Easy Care & Feeding of Your Beaded Flowers
Beaded Flowers require little care (and no feeding) to keep them looking bright and new. Below you will find several recommendations for cleaning your flowers. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Beaded flowers, trees or arrangements should not be placed in the direct sun, as some beads or finishes will fade.
For light dusting we suggest using an "air duster", also known as compressed air, which can be found at most office supply stores. Holding the "air duster" nozzle about 6 to 12" from the flower or leaf, spray with short quick bursts. If you hold the nozzle too close you could disfigure the flower or leaf from the force of the compressed air.
Another suggestion for light dusting is to use a small paintbrush with flexible bristles.
For a more thorough cleaning we suggest filling a pan with tepid water and a small amount of mild dish detergent. The pan should be at least 3-4 times the size of the flower you are cleaning. Holding the stem just below the flower head, swish the flower gently in the soapy water then run under a tepid faucet to rinse. Make sure you rinse the entire length of the stem if it is wrapped with silk or floss to avoid water marks or discoloration. Lay the flower on an absorbent towel for a few minutes to remove most of the water. Dry completely using a fan or a hair dryer set on it's lowest setting. (More air movement, less heat is recommended.)
If you are cleaning an arrangement or bouquet, it may be necessary to take it apart. We suggest taking a photo or drawing a sketch of the arrangement before dismantling it for cleaning. This way you will know how to put it back together, or feel free to rearrange it. Contact us if you have any questions.
Using other cleaning products, such as glass cleaner, is not recommended due to chemical reactions to the beads, wire, and stem wrapping. The harsh chemicals in most cleaning products may effect the color of the beads or the color of stem wrapping.
